The environmental movement is mostly comprised of people not interested in making a bi-partisan appeal- and we need to get over the perspective in which its &quot;us against them&quot; and find a deeper language of working for all of us... The casual unity many of us feel with the broader Left is quite an impediment to the flowing of the environmental values across the political spectrum. The healthy part of this process is it challenges us to come out of the &quot;zero-sum&quot; plane of politics to the grander visionary place of national leadership/ community building/ bridging. 
i always taught about Shabbat as a real tikun for the activist, where we have to come see our world as fixed and liberate our opponents from their place as &quot;enemy/ other.&quot; Only from there will we find the perspective, language and model that you are searching for in your piece. Thanks!
