Wilderness Torah awakens and celebrates the earth-based traditions of Judaism to nourish the connections between self, community, earth, and Spirit.

Wilderness Torah offers:

  • unparalleled multigenerational holiday retreats, such as Passover in the Desert near Death Valley
  • meaningful year-round youth education for ages 5-13 including Sunday School in the Woods and a two-year B’nai Mitzvah program
  • young adult leadership training in Jewish nature-based studies, ritual leadership, and community-building
  • and custom programs for Jewish institutions across the Bay Area

Since 2007, more than 5,000 participants have experienced Wilderness Torah’s innovative, nature-based approach to Jewish community and education. Wilderness Torah participants are all ages, of all Jewish denominations (and non-Jewish), all levels of engagement – from “Jew-ish” to rabbis and teachers – and have traveled from 7 countries and 28 different states to attend retreats.

In 2014, for the fourth year in a row, Wilderness Torah was named one of the most innovative Jewish organizations in the nation by Slingshot Fund.
